Hennessey was a member of the Ziern Antiques of St. Louis, whose lineup included fellow Hall of Famers Ray Bluth, Pat Patterson and Don Carter in the beginning stages of their careers. He left St. Louis to bowl with the Strohs in Detroit and later returned to join the great Budweisers. He shot 759, including a 300 game, when the Buds bowled the record 3,858 series in 1958. He won four USBC Open Championships titles in four years between 1962-65.
