WP men, Wichita women victorious at Glenn Carlson Invitational

The William Penn men's and Wichita State women's teams were victorious at the 2013 Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center on Thursday.

William Penn, who qualified fourth on the men's side, went to the wire against defending champion Midland before emerging with the title, 3-2. William Penn defeated Newman to reach the finals, 3.5-2.5, while Midland knocked out Arizona State, 3-1.

For the women, Wichita State took care of Pikeville for the crown, 3-1. The top-seeded Shockers beat Newman to advance to the championship round, 3-0, while Pikeville defeated Urbana, 3-2.

William Penn's Cameron Foster earned the top spot in the men's individual standings, posting a nine-game score of 2,105 (233.89 average). Joe Gourneau of Midland finished second with 1,986, while Urbana's Graham Fach (1,958), San Jose State's Darren Tang (1,954) and William Penn's Jacques Kaune (1,932) rounded out the top five.

Wichita State's Tannya Roumimper paced the women's side, finishing with a 1,909 total (212.11). Newman's Chelsea Herrera took second with 1,895. Pikeville's Brianna Larson (1,859), Midland's Sabrena Divis (1,822) and Wichita State's Holly Harris (1,820) also finished in the top five.
