Youth Open to offer handicap option; West Region site is set

ARLINGTON, Texas – The 2015 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships will provide more opportunities for youth bowlers to grab a share of the scholarship fund and, for the third consecutive year, the event will hold a West Region tournament.

This year, Cloverleaf Family Bowl in Fremont, California, will be the host center for the Youth Open West Region on June 20-21. The West Region event was created in 2013 so USBC Youth bowlers in the western part of the country could have a major tournament option closer to home.

Orland Bowl in Orland Park, Illinois, will host the 2015 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships from July 9-26.

Operated by International Bowling Campus Youth Development, the Youth Opens are non-qualifying tournaments open to all USBC Youth members. The tournaments have four age-based divisions (U8, U12, U15 and U20) with the highest age on the team determining the division for team and doubles competition.

While all scores are scratch, in 2015 the Youth Open Championships will offer a handicap option for all of the events. The $10 entry fee for the handicap option will go directly to the scholarship fund and the handicap divisions will be the same as the scratch divisions.

The tournaments also will offer competitors the opportunity to participate in doubles competition multiple times. Bowlers may enter the doubles event additional times with a different partner during designated squads. All re-entries must be done on-site and will cost $40 per person but there will be no limit on the number of times an individual can participate or cash in the doubles event.

The Bowling.com Youth Open Championships and the Youth Open West Region provide more competitive opportunities for youth bowlers and help build a future for the sport. Competitors bowl nine games total – three games each of singles, doubles and four-player team – and the combined scores from those events is the all-events score.

Registration is now open for both the Youth Open and Youth Open West Region. Go to BOWL.com/YouthOpen and BOWL.com/YouthOpenWestRegion to learn more.
