Stephen F. Austin takes lead at 2016 Prairie View Invite

Standings

ARLINGTON, Texas -
Stephen F. Austin moved into the lead at the 2016 Prairie View A&M Invitational after an impressive team effort Saturday at the International Training and Research Center.

The Ladyjacks powered their way to the top of the standings, averaging more than 207 as a team during Saturday's five traditional games to put their overall pinfall total at 10,515 through 10 matches.

Arkansas State, which jumped from fourth place into second with a two-day total of 10,423, is followed by Vanderbilt (10,293) and three-time defending Prairie View A&M Invitational champion Nebraska (10,268).

This weekend's event features 10 of the top 25 teams in the most recent poll and a variety of exciting formats.

All 11 teams in the field bowled five five-game Baker matches Friday and five traditional matches Saturday. Tournament action will continue Sunday with one additional team game before the winner emerges from the best-of-seven match-play brackets.

Seeding for the brackets will be based on total pinfall from the 25 Baker games and six traditional games.

Along with the Prairie View A&M Invitational trophy on the line, each match the teams bowl goes toward their overall win-loss records for the 2015-16 bowling season, which helps determine the teams that qualify for the 2016 NCAA Bowling Championship being held in New Jersey in April.

Vanderbilt leads the way after two days of competition at the ITRC with a 9-1 record. Stephen F. Austin is at 8-1, and Arkansas State and Nebraska went undefeated during Saturday's round to improve to 7-2 and 6-3, respectively.

Individually, Arkansas State's Jordan Richard is pacing the field with a five-game total of 1,161, a 232.2 average. Vanderbilt's Robyn Renslow is a pin behind with 1,160, and Maryland Eastern Shore's Thashaina Seraus is third with 1,140. Individual award winners will be determined after Sunday's final traditional game.

All rounds of the 2016 Prairie View A&M Invitational are being broadcast live on BowlTV.
