Collegiate Ticker - Oct. 26, 2016

The Webber International women and Spring Hill men showed off their best Baker performances on the way to wins at the Savannah College of Art and Design/University of Florida Baker Shootout in Savannah, Georgia, last weekend.

Each team competing at the SCAD/UF Baker Shootout bowled 36 Baker games to determine the four varsity teams in each division that would advance to the match-play bracket at AMF Savannah Lanes. Bracket matches featured a best-of-three format.

The women's championship match required more than three games as Webber and Emmanuel were tied, 1.5-1.5, after Game 3. A ninth and 10th frame roll-off broke the tie, as Webber was able to deliver a double and record the victory, 47-38.

Webber, the top overall seed after qualifying, defeated Florida State, 2-0, to reach the finals, while Emmanuel, the No. 2 seed, swept Spring Hill, 2-0, in the semifinals.

In the men's final, Spring Hill defeated Florida State, 2-0, to claim the title. Spring Hill edged by Florida State in the first game, 150-139, and secured the win by a score of 204-195 in Game 2.

Spring Hill qualified second and defeated Emmanuel, 2-0, to advance to the championship round. Florida State was the final team to qualify for the match-play bracket and knocked off top seed Webber in the semifinals, 2-0.
