Baker wins senior regional

Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer Tom Baker of King, N.C. defeated Ken Parks of Hammond, Ind., 286-234, to win the Professional Bowlers Association South Region Don Carter Signature Series North Ft. Myers Senior Open at Allstar Lanes Sunday in a tune-up event for the start of the 2012 PBA Senior Tour season.

The Senior Tour gets underway April 21-24 with the PBA Senior Sun Bowl in The Villages presented by Storm at Spanish Spring Lanes.

The win in North Ft. Meyers was Baker’s 26th regional title and the third of the season in the South Region. Baker earned $1,500 for the win while Parks earned $800 as the runner-up.

Baker defeated Daryl Bower of Middletown, Pa., 225-181, and Parks defeated Dennis Lane of Kingsport, Tenn., 238-161, in the semifinal round.

Bower and Lane each earned $700 as semifinal round losers.

The PBA South Region’s next tournament will be the Don Carter Signature Series Storm Tampa Senior Open Tuesday through Thursday at AMF University Lanes.
