USBC fills vacant board position

Karl Kielich of El Paso, Texas, has been appointed to the United States Bowling Congress Board of Directors, USBC president Darlene Baker announced.

Kielich will fill the final two years of the board position held by Carolyn Dorin-Ballard. Dorin-Ballard resigned earlier this year after she was named USBC Director of Coaching Certification and Development.

Kielich, 37, currently is president of the El Paso USBC. He has been a member of the El Paso USBC/El Paso Bowling Association board for more than 14 years and was involved with the local promotion of the 2010 USBC Women's Championships in El Paso.

"Karl has not only good business but association experience, both of which are important for the USBC board." Baker said. "I'm looking forward to working with Karl and am sure he will be contributing from the start and will bring value to the board."

A finance manager for AT&T since 2005, Kielich also has enjoyed success on the lanes. He has a Professional Bowlers Association Southwest region title and more than 20 city titles in the El Paso USBC/El Paso BA along with several 300 games and 800 series. He was inducted into the El Paso USBC Hall of Fame in 2008.
