USBC Youth go behind the scenes at Masters

At the 2010 USBC Masters in Reno, Nev., five USBC Youth members had the chance to meet the stars of the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour.

The participants were randomly selected from USBC Youth league bowlers in the Reno-Sparks area to take part in the PBA/USBC Insiders' Tour. The program, a cooperative venture between the PBA and USBC, gives young bowlers a behind-the-scenes look at the world of professional bowling and allows them the opportunity to meet their heroes.

The group attended Friday night's match-play finals at the National Bowling Stadium and had the opportunity to meet the pros and see what life on tour is all about. They also had the chance to experience the live televised final.

"It was cool," said Kyla Morris, 13, whose favorite bowler is 2007-08 PBA Player of the Year and 2010 Masters runner-up Chris Barnes. "It was the first time I was able to see him bowl, so it was a blast."

Josh Cory, 16, was excited to tour the back of the NBS, which housed the PBA trucks and equipment for the week.

"The tour of the back was really good," Cory said. "It was cool to see all of the camera stuff for the TV show and the truck. It was better than expected."

Joining Morris and Cory behind the scenes and on the set was Emily Mendonca, 13, Kaitlin Nichols, 13, and David Snethen, 8.
