Junior Team USA sweeps doubles at PABCON Youth

The Junior Team USA boys and girls swept the gold and silver medals Monday at the 2013 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Sarah Lokker (1,349) and Mary Wells (1,270) earned the girls doubles gold medal with a six-game total of 2,619. The boys gold medal went to Matt Farber (1,337) and Wesley Low (1,319) with 2,656.
Junior Team USA also took both silver medals with Natalie Goodman (1,293) and Robyn Renslow (1,299) shooting 2,592 and Kamron Doyle (1,414) and Greg Young (1,240) firing 2,654.
"It was a very exciting day for our team and they are just playing unbelievably well so far," Team USA assistant head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney said. "They weren't too worried about who was going to be in first or who was in second. They just wanted to make sure the USA was on top."
The girls doubles bronze medal went to Mexico's Raquel Orozco and Sara Pelayo with 2,468, while the boys doubles bronze medal was awarded to Canada's Anthony Carrier and Kevin Maurice with 2,651.
With 12 of 24 games completed in the all-events race, Lokker leads the girls with 2,587 (215.6 average). Goodman is fifth with 2,470, Renslow is sixth with 2,458 and Wells is ninth at 2,419.
On the boys side, Doyle leads with 2,769 (230.8 average) with Farber in second at 2,728. Low sits in fourth with 2,673 and Young is ninth with 2,580.
Trios will be held today followed by team event on Wednesday and Thursday. The championships conclude with the Masters competition on Friday.
