What is USA Bowling?
USA Bowling is a mainstream youth program that shares a similar team-based structure with other youth sports. Children of the same age and skill level interact with a coach through instruction and regular practice and then compete with other teams on a short 8-12 week time frame.
USA Bowling Structure
DIVISIONS. Possible age divisions include (and are not limited to) U10, U12, U14, U15 and U20.
TEAMS. Each team is comprised of at least three (3) and not more than five (5) bowlers.
SCHEDULE. League runs eight to 12 weeks in length with the first two weeks consisting of practice only. The final week consists of a position round, end-of-season party and awards ceremony.
PRACTICE. Practices take place once per week for one hour. Days and times of practice must be coordinated with the bowling center.
MATCHES. Format may consist of team games, baker games or a combination of the two.
COST. Program fees for each child are at the discretion of the bowling center. Owning personal equipment is not required. However, if you would like to invest in personal equipment, seek a local pro shop. The staff there will help guide you to selecting the proper bowling ball and/or shoes.
Benefits of USA Bowling
ANYONE CAN PLAY. Don’t know how to bowl? That’s OK! Interest and enthusiasm are the only prerequisites to joining a USA Bowling program.
TEAM-BASED STRUCTURE. The program is developed around the concept of teamwork which will help children develop valuable life skills such as leadership and sportsmanship.
SMALLER PLAYER-TO-COACH RATIO. Kids receive more personalized one-on-one instruction from their coach through a regular, weekly one hour practice.
LEARN FASTER. The benefits of skill instruction are immediate. Within the first hour of practice, kids are gaining useful instruction that will have them learning about the game and knocking down more pins in no time.
FUN. Most importantly, it’s the camaraderie that kids enjoy most about USA Bowling. Participants develop friendships and receive constant encouragement from their instructors and peers.
