The Lindenwood men and Wichita State women claimed their first Tier 1 victories of the 2017-2018 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season over the holiday weekend, earning the top spots at the National Collegiate Team Match Games in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

The event was hosted at St. Clair Bowl and included 25 men's and 19 women's varsity teams. The format featured six traditional games and 20 Baker games with total pinfall, including bonus pins, determining the champions.

The Lindenwood men took advantage of collecting bonus pins on their way to the title, finishing with a 12,046 total. The Lions edged runner-up McKendree in overall pinfall by just 11 pins but used 300 additional bonus pins to cruise to the win.

McKendree finished with 11,735, and Wichita State, which had won the previous four editions of the event, took third with 11,524.

McKendree teammates Billy Goodman and Greg Young finished at the top of the individual standings, posting six-game scores of 1,388 and 1,348, respectively. Grand View's Sam Cantrell was third with 1,339, and Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah's Alex Glinkski (1,317) and Nebraska's Allister Rutledge (1,307) rounded out the top five.

The Wichita State women captured their seventh consecutive Team Match Games title after making their move in Baker competition, posting an overall score of 11,058. St. Ambrose finished second with 10,922, and Lindenwood was third with 10,713.

Lindenwood paced the individual efforts as Dene Standifer (1,294) and Serenity Quintero (1,229) rolled the biggest blocks. Wichita State's Hollyann Johansen (1,222), Grand View's Makayla Ericksen (1,207) and St. Ambrose's Kaitlyn Keith (1,188) also earned spots on the all-tournament team.
