Direct entry, qualifying events will set fields for 2019 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open

ARLINGTON, Texas – Competitors once again will earn direct entry into the 2019 U.S. Open and 2019 U.S. Women’s Open fields based on last season’s professional tour money lists and finishes at national events, and through expanded regional qualifying tournaments and an on-site pre-tournament qualifier.

Limited fields were introduced in 2017 for U.S. Open and in 2018 for the U.S. Women’s Open. Both events are a collaborative effort of the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA) and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).

The 2019 U.S. Women’s Open will take place June 16-23 at Texas Station in Las Vegas. It will be the second major of the 2019 Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) season and will have a 108-player field.

The 2019 U.S. Open will have a 144-player field when it is held Oct. 23-30 at Victory Lanes in Mooresville, North Carolina.

CBS Sports Network will televise the stepladder finals of each event.

Bowlers who do not earn a direct entry can attempt to qualify through regional qualifying events or through the pre-tournament qualifiers that will be held on-site at each event.

There will be 20 U.S. Open and eight U.S. Women’s Open regional qualifying events held throughout the country. The host centers of each regional qualifier will manage the tournament, including registration, and will determine the format, provided it includes at least nine games and is contested on a Sport Bowling-compliant lane condition. The winner of each regional will advance to the national tournament.

The on-site pre-tournament qualifiers at each event will be used to complete the fields.

Visit BOWL.com/USOpen and BOWL.com/USWomensOpen for complete information on the respective tournaments, including the most current list of centers that will host regional events.
