Randy Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa, is president of the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America after serving as president-elect, vice president and secretary. He is a second-generation proprietor and has been in bowling management for nearly 40 years. Thompson, who owns two centers in the Des Moines metro area, has served as local and state association treasurer, secretary and president. In 2006, he was the driving force behind bowling becoming a certified/letter sport for high school boys and girls in the state of Iowa. He also was responsible for landing high school bowling in the Iowa Hall of Pride Museum as a featured high school sport. He was named national Bowling Proprietor of the Year in 2008 by International Bowling Industry magazine and named BPAA Iowa Proprietor of the Year in 2010. He was elected to the Greater Des Moines Bowling Hall of Fame in 2011 and has served on the BPAA High School, Marketing, Membership and Youth committees. Randy and his wife, Sheri, have two sons who are the third generation of proprietors.
