United States competes at 2015 Tournament of the Americas

ARLINGTON, Texas - A talented team of 20 bowlers will represent the United States at the 53rd Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas starting Sunday in Sunrise, Florida.
The Tournament of the Americas will welcome players from the American Zone who are looking to take home medals in singles, doubles, mixed doubles, mixed team and all-events competition at Strikers Lanes.
The event features five-age based divisions, including Adult, Senior (ages 50-plus for men, 45-plus for women), Super Senior (ages 60-plus for men, 55-plus for women), Junior A (ages 16-19) and Junior B (ages 12-15).
Erin McCarthy (above) of Omaha, Nebraska, Kayla Johnson of Washington, Illinois, AJ Chapman of Manchester, Iowa, and Chris Colella of Templeton, Massachusetts, will represent Team USA at the 2015 event.
The Junior Team USA contingent competing in the Junior A Division includes Julia Bond of Aurora, Illinois, Jadee Scott-Jones of East Providence, Rhode Island, Michael Coffey of Melbourne, Florida, and Kenny Ryan of Ocean, New Jersey.
Bond, who helped Nebraska win the 2015 NCAA Bowling Championship, captured five medals, including three gold medals, at the 2014 tournament.
Also competing on the junior side will be Ashley Channell of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, Brogan Zengel of Centerville, Ohio, Michael Schoerner of Plymouth, Wisconsin, and Cortez Schenck of Phoenix. Each earned their way to the event through their performance at the 2014 Junior Gold Championships and will compete in the Junior B Division.
Channell and Schenck each took home five medals at the 2014 Tournament of the Americas. Channell's collection included four gold medals, while Schenck captured three gold medals.
USBC Hall of Famer Tish Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, led the charge in 2014 with five gold medals, and will look for a repeat performance in the Senior Division. Johnson will be joined by Brenda Burns of Peoria, Arizona, Mark Porter of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Sunrise's Craig Auerbach.
The Super Senior Division will be represented by Sharon Powers of Lakewood, Colorado, Kristy Whitcher of Belfair, Washington, John Katsaros of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Clark Poelzer of Arden Hills, Minnesota.
The Senior and Super Senior team members earned the opportunity to compete on the United States team in the Tournament of the Americas by their performance at the USBC Open Championships and USBC Women's Championships.
Team USA associate coach Stephen Padilla and provisional coach Del Warren, both USBC Gold coaches, will coach the team.
The Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas is the oldest annual international tournament in the American Zone. It is an invitational event for countries in the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON), the American Zone of World Bowling.
In each division, one team comprised of two men and two women compete in singles, doubles, mixed doubles and mixed team. After 32 games, individual all-events and national all-events champions are recognized.
