Registered Volunteer ProgramUSBC created the Registered Volunteer Program (RVP) to assure parents that we provide as safe an environment as possible for USBC youth. The program ensures that any volunteers who work with USBC Youth are qualified to do so, and gives proprietors, coaches and prospective volunteers alike an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to the safety of youth bowlers by either registering in the program themselves or inviting registered volunteers to take part in local USBC Youth activities.

Senior Research Engineer

This position will assist the Specifications and Certifications team in their efforts to maintain the integrity of the sport of bowling. This position will lead research by using proper engineering and scientific concepts and conduct research into the “Four Factors of the Sport”, which includes bowling balls, pins, lanes, and oils/oil patterns.
This position will conduct research and compile, analyze, and interpret results related to the topics listed above, as well as bowling equipment and products (balls, pins, lanes, scoring devices, lane dressing, lane machines, etc.) and the interrelation and interaction between them that have an influence on scoring. The person will assist in the custom design, development, and building of testing and research equipment used in research endeavors. This person will draw conclusions from research results and will assist in making recommendations to support USBC strategic initiatives.
Work toward continuous improvement of existing approval methods.
Identify and work with resources, external to team, required in meeting objectives. Contract and negotiate with outside services to support equipment development and testing services.
Ensure that corrective action is taken when necessary.
Provide support to the Equipment Specifications and Certifications Committee.
Participate in team meetings and team activities to accomplish various goals of the department.

Research and develop new technology incorporating the sport of bowling

Tournament Technology Engineer

We are currently looking for two qualified and experienced Information System Engineers to work in our Tournament Technology group.
The Tournament Technology Engineers will primarily be responsible for supporting all technology at the two largest participatory sporting events on the planet. USBC's Championship Tournaments offers an exciting opportunity to work in a professional team environment atmosphere that utilizes several types of technology including the World's largest Indoor Mobile LED Matrix Video Wall.
These positions are 100% Travel during the tournament season (January - July); the Tournament Technology Engineers will live in one of the two host cities. During the off season (August - December) the Engineers will live in Arlington, Texas and work at the International Bowling Campus. During the off-season the Engineers will be preparing the Tournaments' Data Center equipment for the upcoming year tournaments, and will be supporting the infrastructure at the International Bowling Campus.
Essential Responsibilities
Design, Configure, Implement, Administer and support tournament technology such as network/voice infrastructure, desktop/mobile computing, print/fax/copy solutions, audio/visual media, data server/storage, vitualization, and security cameras.
Install, administer, and support tournament scoring display system.
Provide daily operational troubleshooting of implemented tournament technology.
Provide exceptional customer service support to all assigned tournament venues
Act as primary point of contact for technology requirement during setup/teardown of tournament venue; coordinate and implement setup/teardown of technology infrastructures at assigned tournament venues.
Monitoring and maintaining network operating systems, directory structures and user accounts.
Installs, modifies, maintains and troubleshoots LAN-based applications of Tournament.
Develops written procedures, policies and standards involved in network administration and operation.
Effects hardware and software changes and moves including additional deletions and modifications.
Monitoring, analyzing, adjusting and improving network performance using measurement and tuning tools.
Propose network modifications or features to improve efficiency or reduce costs, maintaining currently in network technologies.
Qualifications
Outstanding customer service. Must be able to work as a team member, able to communicate with tournament staff, participants, and spectators in a professional and courteous manner.
Solid hands-on experience of 6-9 years; and/or an undergraduate degree in CIS with 4 years experience; and/or graduate degree with 2 years experience; and/or Military background with 4 years computer job experience.

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot tiered applications in a heterogeneous environment.

Regional Manager
The United States Bowling Congress is recognized by the Olympic Committee as the National Governing Body and membership organization for the sport of bowling. As bowling increases in popularity, we seek enthusiastic candidates to join our team at the national headquarters for the organized sport of bowling, located in Arlington, Texas. We are currently looking for qualified Regional Managers to work with our Associations Development Team!
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist association (states primarily) to utilize excess reserves in the development and execution of programs that grow membership.
Educate and support State Associations on growing and creating successful Championship Tournaments.
Promote the growth of High School, In-School and After School bowling programs. This includes creating workshops to promote the development of club programs and taking club programs to Varsity level where appropriate. Update, modify and utilize a Youth Program Director Training Program.
Work with State Associations to act as a mentors and educators to their Local Associations.
Develop and implement programs that assist local associations grow membership.
Build positive relationship with Associations, Proprietors and other Bowling integers.
Determine and report to HQ specific needs in the field.
Support and back-up the Call Center when in the office.
Coordinate with BPAA where appropriate and work closely with Proprietor Relations team.
Represent USBC at Jamborees, Workshops, Town Hall Meetings, and Convention and as assigned.
Deliver and develop presentations.
Qualifications
Must have ability to develop training programs to include creation of class materials, workbooks, support materials as well as Power Point presentations.
Must have ability to conduct training sessions.
Must have knowledge of youth program operations for creation of workshops.
Must be able to work with diverse group of association personnel to motivate and change their operations.
Must have a strong working knowledge of USBC programs, services and operations.
Relationships with proprietors would be a plus, Must be able to build those relationships.
Must have ability to deal with confrontation and be able to bring consensus to a large group.
Must be self motivated.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
Must be a skilled public speaker, experience speaking about the sport of bowling a plus.
Business degree and 2 years experience or 6 years industry experience required.
Must be able to spend in excess of 100 days on the road making presentations and working with Associations, Proprietors and Communities.
Position is located in Arlington, TX, with an assigned territory.
Must pass USBC Registered Volunteer Program background screen as a condition of employment to ensure appropriate protection is given to youth involved in our programs required.
Ability to adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program as a condition of employment and continued employment.
