ITRC to be bowling's elite training ground

Upon completion, the International Training and Research Center (ITRC) will serve many important functions within bowling world. All of those functions are of great importance, but one of the facility's most impressive distinctions is its status as bowling's elite training ground for bowlers, coaches and pro shop professionals.

That distinction will be made quite clear thanks to the USA 5-ring symbol, representing the Olympic Movement in the United States, which will be proudly displayed on the side of the ITRC, setting it apart as the only bowling facility in the country to feature the Olympic rings. The United States Olympic Committee granted permission to display the rings in recognition of USBC's status as the sole National Governing Body for the sport of Bowling in the United States.

But while the Olympic rings will stand as the visual representation of the ITRC's stature, the work that goes on inside its walls is what will truly make the facility elite.

The ITRC will serve as the part-time training center for Team USA, Junior Team USA and international teams from World Tenpin Bowling Association countries. It also will be used to host USBC Coaching, Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) and International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association (IBPSIA) seminars and certification courses.

"The International Training and Research Center is going to be the finest research and training facility the sport of bowling has to offer," said Neil Stremmel, USBC Vice President – National Governing Body. "The best thing about it is that it is equipped to train the elite, yet it will be made available to the beginner. This is truly a building that will benefit people from all aspects of the bowling world – bowlers, coaches, proprietors, pro shop professionals, everyone.
