LAS VEGAS – Don Barry Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska, was able to make his 25th appearance at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships even more memorable by rolling a 300 game during his singles set Monday at the 2024 event.

The 46-year-old right-hander posted the perfect game during his second game of the set at the South Point Bowling Plaza, and he added 205 and 180 around it for a 685 series.

Barry, who served as a coordinator for 18 teams this year at the USBC Open Championships, had friends and family cheering him on as the strikes started to add up Monday.

His first two deliveries in the 10th frame left little doubt as they hit the pocket, but Barry pulled his final ball to connect for a Brooklyn strike to complete the 300.

The achievement aligned as his 50th perfect game and helped Barry finish his 2024 appearance at the Open Championships with an all-events total of 1,906. He had sets of 660 in team and 561 in doubles.

The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
