Fresno State, Midland take home Rebel Classic titles
LAS VEGAS - Fresno State claimed the men's title while Midland took the women's division at The Rebel Classic, a Tier I event held Jan. 28-29 at the Orleans Bowling Center.

Fresno State, which won the men's title at last year's USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, had an 11,704 pinfall total to outdistance Arizona State (11,380) and Midland (11,374). West Texas A&M (11,335) was fourth and Newman (11,299) took fifth.

Arizona' Aaron Foshie took individual honors with a total pinfall of 1,489 over seven games (212.7 average). Perry Crowell (1,411) of Midland was second, followed by West Texas A&M's Dylan Macon (1,401), UNLV's Nick Lamek (1,400) and Michael Fujita (1,398) of UC Davis.

With a 11,335 pinfall total, Midland slipped past Newman (11,177) for the women's title with West Texas A&M (10,289) taking third. Newman's Georgia Drewes and Linzey Roberts took the top two spots in the individual competition with pinfall totals of 1,428 and 1,354, respectively. Midland's Kristin Ruzicka (1,351) was third.

Buckeye Baker Classic
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Wright State claimed the men's and women's title at the Buckeye Baker Classic held Jan. 28-29 at H.P. Lanes. Wright State edged Saginaw Valley State in the men's title match while the women topped Notre Dame College. The Toledo men had a 300 game during qualifying.

Kutztown Invitational
READING, Pa. - Maryland Eastern Shore, in their second tournament under new coach Kristina Frahm, won its first title of the season by beating Fairleigh Dickinson in the title match at the Kutztown Invitational. The tournament, held Jan. 27-29 at AMF Heister Lanes, had a 28-team field.

Sin City Open
LAS VEGAS - Led by sophomore Erin Sanagorski and senior Linzey Roberts, the Newman women's team captured the first tournament title in the program's nine-year history at the Sin City Open held Jan. 27 at the Orleans Bowling Center. Fresno State took the men's title.

CIAA South Event
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -
Fayetteville State went 15-0 to win the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) South Event II held Jan. 27-29 at B&B Bowling Lanes. The Lady Broncos program also recorded its 600th victory during the tournament.

SOMERSET, Ky. -
John McCarthy led Louisville to the men's title while Megan Kyle helped the Pikeville women win the Bulldog Classic held Jan. 28 at Briar Bowl.

Blue and Orange
WAPPINGERS, N.Y. - Hudson Valley edged Schenectady for the men's title while Briarcliffe ran away with women's crown at the Blue and Orange held Jan. 28 at the Hoebowl Holiday Lanes. Schenectady's Tyler Mochrie and Danielle Cessman of Briarcliffe won individual all-events titles.

Viterbo V-Hawk Invitational
LA CROSSE, Wis. -
Ashford beat tournament host Viterbo for the men's title and St. Ambrose took the women's division at the Viterbo V-Hawk Invitational at PlaMor Lanes on Jan. 28-29.

Lions Classic
ST. CHARLES, Mo. -
Despite an early loss in double-elimination bracket play, the Lindenwood women's team was able to come back and take the title at the 3rd Annual Lions Classic held Jan. 28-29 at St. Charles and Plaza Lanes. In the men's division, Cumberland beat Indiana for the title and McKendree had a 300 game in bracket play.

BAYSHORE, N.Y. -
Briarcliffe swept the men's and women's titles at the Westchester Invitational held Jan. 29 at AMF Bayshore Lanes.
