Bowl for the Cure names its Fabulous Four winners

ARLINGTON, Texas – The four winners of the Bowl for the Cure® Fabulous Four essay contest have been determined and soon the winners will embark on the ultimate bowling experience.

Bowl for the Cure®, which works in partnership with Susan G. Komen®, launched the Fabulous Four essay contest so women who have been impacted by breast cancer and/or who have been involved in supporting the fight against breast cancer could share their stories.

As the winners of the Fabulous Four essay contest, Kathy Adams of Bountiful, Utah, Barb Demorest of Bellingham, Wash., Kristal Kelley of Smithfield, N.C. and Shannon Thompson of Spring Creek, Nev., each will receive a five-day trip of a lifetime that will start in Dallas and end at the 2014 USBC Women’s Championships in Reno, Nev.

“The Fabulous Four initiative has been a very exciting part of our Bowl for the Cure® efforts this year,” Eric Kearney, USBC Managing Director of Operations and Administration, said. “Not only is it a chance to give back to those who are part of the fight against breast cancer, but it also is an opportunity to raise awareness on one of bowling’s biggest stages, the Women’s Championships.”

On April 8, the Fabulous Four winners will begin a five-day journey by flying to the Dallas/Fort Worth area where they will get a chance to tour Susan G. Komen’s International Headquarters and visit the International Bowling Campus (IBC). At the IBC, each will receive bowling equipment, a bowling lesson from the Team USA coaching staff and a tour of the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.

The winners then will travel to Reno where they will take part in the opening ceremonies of the 2014 USBC Women’s Championships on April 11 and will bowl the team event together.
