Winners selected in Bowl for the Cure Fabulous Four contest

ARLINGTON, Texas – The winners have been determined in the Bowl for the Cure® Fabulous Four essay contest, and the four women selected soon will take part in the ultimate bowling experience that will culminate at the 2015 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships in Reno, Nevada.
Bowl for the Cure, a year-round fundraising initiative sponsored by USBC in partnership with Susan G. Komen®, conducted the Fabulous Four essay contest to raise awareness about breast cancer. The contest was open to women who have been impacted by breast cancer and/or have been involved in supporting the fight against breast cancer.
Tavawyaha Batts of Waldorf, Maryland, Angel Crosby of Garrett, Indiana, Chelsea Gilliam of Barbourville, Kentucky, and Anne Taku of Santa Cruz, California, were chosen by a special selection panel that included last year’s Fabulous Four winners and Professional Women’s Bowling Association spokesperson Kelly Kulick, along with Susan G. Komen® and USBC staff.
All four women are breast cancer survivors. The selections of Crosby and Gilliam were based on their personal experience with breast cancer, while Batts and Taku earned selection for meritorious service in the fight against breast cancer.
The Fabulous Four’s ultimate bowling experience will take place in April, as they head to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to begin their five-day trip.
The journey will start with a tour of Komen headquarters in Dallas and a special celebration dinner. They then will head to Arlington to tour the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame and go the International Training and Research Center, where they will be fitted with new bowling balls and receive a lesson from Team USA members and coaching staff.
The trip will continue with a flight to Reno and the start of the 2015 USBC Women’s Championships, where the Fabulous Four will be honored before competing in the event.
