In 2018, the USBC, BPAA and IBC Youth Committee decided to make a clear delineation between adult and youth competition by moving the youth age to 18 and under for its national tournaments.
In accordance with that decision, the U20 division was discontinued from the Junior Gold Championships at the conclusion of the 2023 event in Indianapolis, which left an opening for a national tournament for young, non-professional adult members of USBC.
The U22 Masters and Queens have been created to fill that void for young athletes. These events were conducted using a mixture of tournament elements from the Junior Gold Championships, USBC Masters/USBC Queens and US Open/US Women’s Open.
These national events were created as a new alternative for young USBC adult members as they transition from youth bowling to collegiate and/or adult bowling. The U22 Masters and Queens are available to all non-professional USBC adult members in the U22 age categories.
