Hall made his mark on the sport through his constant search for black bowling history. In 1970 Hall earned the honor of which he was most proud, election as the first African-American to the ABC Board of Directors. He served for 16 active years, then became an Honorary member in 1986. He was one of the leaders in the fight to force the ABC to rescind its limiting of membership to Caucasians.
