Johnson, holder of 26 tour titles, was named the PBA Player of the Year in 1971 and 1972. He won his first tournament in 1964 and also captured the Tournament of Champions when he rolled the historic 299 game in 1970. Just two months before his induction, Johnson won at New Orleans, extending his record of having captured at least one tour title each year since 1964.
