In 31 years on the USBC Open Championships lanes, Sam Lantto of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, has earned 11 top-10 finishes and been a familiar name on the event's 10-, 15-, 20-year and lifetime average lists, with a career mark of more than 216. He owns two titles - Team All-Events in 2002 and 2006. As a member of Team USA (1993, 1994 and 2003), he collected nearly a dozen medals in international competition, including team gold at the 1993 Pan American Bowling Confederation Championships and a silver medal in team at the World Tenpin Bowling Association World Championships in 2003. Lantto's accomplishments earned him spots in the Minneapolis Bowling (2004) and Minnesota State Bowling Association (2005) Halls of Fame.
