The Strike That Wasn't

Team USA’s Bill O’Neill strikes a lot. That’s how he made his way from being a collegiate superstar at Saginaw Valley State to U.S. Open champion.

At the 2014 World Bowling Men’s Championships in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, however, O’Neill threw what appeared to be a strike, similar to the hundreds of thousands he’s thrown throughout his career.

Then this happened. BOWL.com’s BowlTV was lucky enough to capture the incredible hit and bad break that ensued. It’s something you really have to see to believe, so click on the video below!

Although O’Neill had to pick up the spare after that, he now owns a shot that has had more than 900,000 views on YouTube. He didn’t leave the trip empty handed, either. He helped Team USA capture the silver medal in the team event.
