What Not to Say on the Lanes
League vets more than likely follow most of the unwritten rules
There are a handful of phrases you probably do not want to hear from your teammates while competing in league or at a tournament. Let’s examine some of these and why they make you wonder if you correctly heard what they just said!
“I’ll be up in a second, let me put down my slice of pizza.”
Sometimes, you need a snack during league to keep you going. There’s nothing wrong with that. But hearing that one of your teammates is enjoying something greasy really makes you hope they wiped their hands off before making it to the approach.
Otherwise, keep an eye out for a ball going the wrong way!
“I can’t remember the last time I missed that spare.”
Until now. It may be a superstition for some folks, but why tempt fate?
“I should have brought the other ball with me.”
Knowing the ball that might have given you the best look isn’t at the center, or in the car, can be frustrating for everybody. Especially if nothing else is working!
“We never beat this team.”
Don’t give in before the first ball is thrown. The game is not won on paper!
