Belmonte Makes Unprecedented History
If you're not a bowling fan or just haven't caught any bowling news recently, major history was made on Feb. 8. For the first time in the 60+ years of the USBC Masters, a bowler has claimed the covetous title three straight times. This unprecedented feat was accomplished by Australia's Jason Belmonte and witnessed by more than 3.5 million viewers.
For those who aren't familiar with this event or why this is really unheard of, the USBC Masters pits the best in bowling against one another - amateur and professional - in an unpredictable, double-elimination match play format and stepladder finals. This format can give amateurs a shot at the title and seasoned professionals can find themselves knocked out easily.
