LAS VEGAS – The members of Team Determination showcased their determination to take the overall team lead in the Ruby Division at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships on Saturday, recording a total score of 2,518.
The team dominated throughout their set at the South Point Bowling Plaza, and each player was very consistent throughout each game.
In their first game, the team came out firing a fantastic score of 885. They were amazing again in Game 2, bowling 823. In Game 3, they kept up the pace by rolling 810.
Team Determination – featuring Andreana Gohagan, Mercades Davis, Aretha Williams and Kathy Allen – took the lead by 169 pins. Paper Chasers 16 of Temple Hills, Maryland, had held the lead with 2,349.
Davis, out of Oakland, California, led the way for this great team performance. She had an overall series score of 664 (267, 175, 222).
Gohagan, of Las Vegas, helped out the team’s cause with a terrific score of 647 (243, 201, 203).
Williams, of Las Vegas, found the right look to close her set, finishing with a total score of 635 (172, 238, 225).
Allen, also of Las Vegas, helped the team out with a nice series score of 572 (203, 209, 160).
Allen and the rest of her teammates were very jubilant when they found out they had taken the overall lead in Ruby Team. Although the team had to overcome some past injuries, they still had the determination to bowl strong as a unit.
“My daughter, Andreana, had just come back from tearing her Achilles,” Allen said. “She was the one leading the crowd.”
Allen was excited that she and her teammates had bowled so consistently well as a team. Their appearance at the USBC Women’s Championships marked the first time Team Determination had bowled together as a group.
“I am so proud of Andreana and the rest of my teammates,” Allen said. “They really came ready to bowl well today, and it showed. We were in a groove as a team. We started out having fun, and we were having joy throughout our whole team event.”
Ruby Team features four-player groups with combined entering averages of 621-700.
