Georgia bowler rolls to Emerald lead at 2025 Women’s Championships
May 11, 2025

LAS VEGAS – Shari Salmon of Cumming, Georgia, rolled into her second appearance at the United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships just hoping to relish the weekend, but she never thought she would be taking the lead in Emerald All-Events at the 2025 event.
Salmon did just that, beating the previous leading score by over 60 pins. She was consistent throughout her nine games at the South Point Bowling Plaza. Salmon started her team event with a good score of 589. In doubles, she fired off a great score of 621. Lastly in singles, she stayed the course with a solid score of 543, finishing with a 1,753 total.
She was pumped that she had taken the overall lead in Emerald All-Events. The hard work she has put in over the last couple of years has paid off.
“It feels pretty amazing,” Salmon said. “I recently did a lot better in my league, so I had a solid plan to really come out here and kill it.”
Salmon was glad that she came out here and executed her game plan. She stuck to the status quo and was able to really dominate throughout her time at the Bowling Plaza. She has really been enjoying her first time in Las Vegas, too.
“The stadium is still huge out here in Las Vegas,” she said. “It’s been an interesting and fun time so far to say the least. I love the closeness of the stadium seating. It’s a little different environment out here.”
She also likes that you can feel the energy of the building through the center and the lanes.
Salmon had a real fan base with her bowling team and friends cheering her on after she took the lead. She was very jubilant about her support system.
“They came out here and we were bowling together, and my team’s family and friends supported me throughout, which was a nice experience to have,” Salmon said.
Salmon took up bowling around 2015. She started by throwing the ball straight at the pins and then started hooking the ball after that. She is a natural right-hander but rolls the ball like a lefty.
She and her friend, Isaac, started to bowl initially for fun. When a lane mechanic saw their actual potential, he encouraged them to start bowling competitively and join a league.
Sometimes, that push from a random stranger can help you go far and help you achieve success.
Emerald All-Events features bowlers with entering averages of 136-155.
