Maryland team leads Ruby Division at 2025 USBC Women’s Championships

LAS VEGAS – The score everyone will be chasing in Ruby Team at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships now belongs to the members of Paper Chasers 16 after the group posted a 2,349 total Friday at the South Point Bowling Plaza.

The team took over the top spot from the Oregon Pin Pushers of Forest Grove, Oregon. The Oregon Pin Pushers bowled on the same squad and momentarily held the lead with 2,279. Cancer Sucks 3 of Milner, Georgia, had started the day with the lead in the Ruby Division with 2,267.

In Game 1, the members of Paper Chasers 16 shot a solid team score of 714. They took the money to the bank in Game 2 with 873 and finished with a good score of 762.

Logan Brown of Waldorf, Maryland, led the way with a fantastic series of 726. She started her set with a score of 196, and she followed with fantastic scores of 279 and 251.

Angela Brown, also of Waldorf, added a series score of 593. She had games of 225, 199 and 169.

Makeba Coleman of Suitland, Maryland, helped the cause with a series of 537. She rolled scores of 172, 203 and 162.

Allison Coleman of Landover, Maryland, did her own part to get the team to the lead, rolling a series of 493. After a slow start with 121, she came back to fire scores of 192 and 180.

“It feels really amazing to be in first,” Allison Coleman said. “We have been practicing together for a very long time. We did start a little slow, although each player on our team held the other one up and we collectively got the job done as a unit.”

The team has been a close unit for a while now, bowling together for several years.

“We’re all very close and have a bond together,” Allison Coleman said. “We’ve been bowling with my squad and Amber (Bell)’s overall team group for many years. It means a lot to represent our group and to take the overall lead.”

The teammates were very excited but also shocked that they had taken the overall lead.

“It’s unbelievable! We have been coming to this tournament for some time now, and to accomplish this goal means a lot to us,” Allison Coleman said.

The team’s goal was to help one another and pick each other up when needed. They just wanted to bowl well and focus on one ball at a time. That goal became a reality Friday in Las Vegas.

Ruby Team features four-player groups with combined entering averages of 621-700.
