New singles leaders in Emerald, Ruby Divisions at Women’s Championships
May 02, 2025

LAS VEGAS – Anna Marie Grenville out of Melbourne, Florida, took the lead in Emerald Singles at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships on Wednesday. Grenville bowled very well, with a grand total of 643 pins knocked down.
In Game 1, Grenville came out firing at the South Point Bowling Plaza with a score of 224 and kept up the pace in Game 2 with 210. Finally, in Game 3, she scored 209 to take over the lead. ReeAnn Armstrong of Waxahachie, Texas, previously led with 625.
Grenville has worked very diligently to get where she is today.
“I work very hard. I bowl and practice with my husband, who is a (USBC) Silver-level coach,” Grenville said.
She had not done as well as she’d like in tournaments, so her husband offered to teach her to improve her game.
“I’ve been trying to work hard on it,” Grenville said. “I have been playing on patterns and joining leagues that do Sport shots.”
She has been really pleased with her overall progress, and it showed this week in Las Vegas as she also sits in third in Emerald All-Events with a 1,671 total. She had a 527 set in team and 501 in doubles before really shining in singles with a small adjustment.
“I moved right and played it like a house shot with my urethane ball,” Grenville said. “That’s when things just clicked for me.”

Samantha Kilian
In addition to Grenville taking the lead in her respective division, another bowler took the lead in Ruby Singles on Thursday.
Samantha Kilian of Polk City, Iowa, dominated during her singles set to take a commanding lead over the rest of the field with a series of 673.
Kilian started her set with 227, added 216 in Game 2 and capped off the set with 230.
“To me, it’s a shock – I wasn’t expecting to bowl that well,” Kilian said. “I did not get to bowl very much this year, so to come out today and just stay in control and bowl well was a nice accomplishment.”
This is Kilian’s second year of making an appearance at the Women’s Championships. She debuted last year in Reno, Nevada, and has enjoyed the experience in Las Vegas.
She has really enjoyed being able to bowl with a group of ladies that bring smiles and laughs, while also meeting new people.
“I have had a really great time here at South Point so far,” Kilian said. “It’s nice getting to meet people and know that we’re all here for the same thing – to have a fun time.”
Kilian began bowling at a young age. She bowled all the way through high school and made the jump to collegiate bowling at the University of Central Missouri.
Her performance this week at the Bowling Plaza also placed her third in Ruby All-Events with 1,780. She had 604 in doubles and 503 in team.
