Ohio bowler leads Emerald Singles at 2026 Women’s Championships
May 18, 2026
In an exciting Sunday morning at the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships, Tina Redinger of Grafton, Ohio, scored high to secure the top spot for Emerald Singles.
Redinger took over the top spot with a 595 series, passing the 579 posted by Axeen Armstrong of Glenwood, Minnesota.
The road to the lead for Redinger started off strong. In Game 1, she had the front six, which set the foundation for her performance. She had games of 230, 243 and 122 at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
After finishing singles, Redinger was very surprised at her overall performance at the USBC Women’s Championships. She knew she had bowled well but was shocked that her score was high enough to take the lead.
“I was shocked and surprised,” Redinger said.
Reflecting on her performance during singles, Redinger really paid attention to what was happening on the lanes. In addition to that playing into her advantage, it also helped that she was bowling with some supportive ladies.
“The lines changed and dried up a little bit,” Redinger said. “I was pretty shocked and excited seeing those scores in Games 1 and 2. It’s also a great feeling bowling with my team. This is my normal team, and I love coming with them. I come with my mom (Pat Redinger), who’s 85, and my niece (Kayla Eggeman).”
This is a special time that Redinger gets to have with her family. It’s a moment that they look forward to each year, especially in Las Vegas.
“We get excited every year to come as a family event,” Redinger said. “A lot of people don’t get to spend time with family, so it’s just four-to-five days of just family time, and we just love Vegas.”
Having set such an impressive score, Redinger hopes the number stays at the top and would be thrilled to take the win at the end of the tournament.
“It would truly be an amazing feeling if that score stays,” Redinger said.
Redinger truly is just thankful for the people she was able to bowl with at the tournament. They always have such a good time at nationals with how everything just comes together so well.
“It’s a great tournament that’s always a lot of fun,” Redinger said. “My teammates are truly the best.”
The Emerald Division features bowlers with entering averages of 136-155.
The Women’s Championships is celebrating its 106th edition in 2026 and making its sixth trip to Las Vegas. The 2026 event is scheduled to feature more than 16,000 bowlers and 4,200 four-player teams competing across 65 consecutive days at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
