Runk connects for 300 at 2025 USBC Women’s Championships

LAS VEGAS – Strikes were adding up across the board Thursday afternoon at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships, leading to the fifth 300 game of the event.

Alexis Runk of Milton, Pennsylvania, started out strong at the South Point Bowling Plaza, scoring a perfect game during her first game of doubles. She was making the pins fall at ease over and over and finished her doubles event with games of 300, 228 and 204 for an overall series of 732.

Coming into the tournament, Runk’s mindset was to score high with whatever ball rolled best through the pins, based on observing the lanes at the USBC Women’s Championships prior to competing at the USBC Queens, which was held across town at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino from May 14-20. Having that mindset gave her motivation to secure the 300.

Runk performed well at the Queens, too. She advanced to the double-elimination bracket and won three matches, finishing the first major of the 2025 Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour season in a tie for 17th place.

“I watched my friends bowl before the Queens, and the lanes seemed a little soft, so my game plan was to throw whatever ball threw the pins around the best,” Runk said. “I had a great look the first game and grateful that I carried for once.”

Having an area of support from bowling alongside her friends made the 300 much more enjoyable for Runk. It motivated her to do well, knowing that she had people cheering her on at South Point and from afar by checking in.

“I am so grateful for everyone I have – I am truly blessed,” Runk said. “My whole family bowls, and they’re always checking in and are the biggest supporters. My friends (Jamie Kulaga, Haylee McCreary and Jenna Rapach) come here to bowl, and I just feel like I’m surrounded by so much love, which makes it 100 times easier.”

During doubles, Runk bowled her 300 with Kulaga, a friend from high school that she has shared many special moments with during her bowling career. Kulaga finished with a 601 series, giving the pair a 1,333 total in Diamond Doubles.

“We’ve been bowling together for a long time,” Runk said. “I met her in high school, where she kicked my butt in a high school regional in the finals, which she never lets me forget. She’s a big jokester, but she puts you in the right mindset.”

Her appearance in 2025 marked her third time attending the Women’s Championships, and she recorded her first 300 at the event. It’s a special moment for Runk, allowing her to accomplish a perfect game at another top-tier event.

“This is the first 300 at nationals, but I also have one from Queens,” Runk said. “It’s pretty cool. It’s actually only my third time bowling this event, and it’s pretty cool to check that off.”

Wrapping up the tournament on a successful note, Runk leaves with several positive emotions from her experience at the event in Las Vegas. A long drive back home is in store for her, but she’s leaving her mark at the Women’s Championships.

“We love South Point, just like the whole environment of this hotel has been incredible,” Runk said. “What the workers do for the bowlers makes you feel like this is a really important and special event. Now, we have a 24-hour drive after this and are hitting the road. I’m just super grateful for the experience and any time I am able to compete.”

Runk added a 661 series in team and 625 in singles for an all-events score of 2,018 at the 2025 event.
