LAS VEGAS – The members of Bomb City Babes of Amarillo, Texas, were knocking the pins off the deck Saturday at the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships at the South Point Bowling Plaza, taking the lead in the Sapphire Division.
The group rolled their way to an impressive team event with a total score of 1,730, with games of 561, 558 and 611. They currently lead their division by 77 pins.
The team consisted of Denicia Barrios, Danielle Taff, Keetha Skaggs and Shay White.
Skaggs led the way for the team with an overall score of 493. In Game 1, she fired off a 187 game – her best game of the team competition. She rolled 143 in Game 2 and in Game 3, she came back and bowled a 163.
White was next on the team with a grand total of 443. Taff helped the cause with a total score of 418 pins, and Barrios knocked down 376 pins to help secure the team lead.
Taff and the rest of her teammates were thrilled when they heard the news of their team taking the overall lead in the Sapphire Division.
“Since this is our first trip to the Women’s Championships, it means so much to us,” Taff said. “We’re incredibly excited and proud of how well we bowled.”
Even though they haven’t competed together as a team for a long time, they jelled throughout their team event.
“This is only our third year competing together as a team,” Taff said. “So everything about this experience is still very new to us, which makes it even more special.”
The Bomb City Babes also enjoyed the South Point Bowling Plaza and what it has to offer.
“The South Point facility is amazing, and the lanes and the entire venue are state-of-the-art,” Taff said. “We come from a small town in Texas, and none of us have ever bowled at a place like this before, so it’s a really unforgettable experience.”
Sapphire Team consists of four-player groups with combined entering averages of 540 and below.
The Women’s Championships is celebrating its 106th edition in 2026 and making its sixth trip to Las Vegas. The 2026 event is scheduled to feature more than 16,000 bowlers and 4,200 four-player teams competing across 65 consecutive days at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
