The Lindenwood men and Wright State women won the deciding game of the bracket finals to record victories last weekend at the Orange and Black Classic.

The men's event was held at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek, Ohio, and women's competition was contested at Poelking Lanes South in Centerville, Ohio. A total of 38 men's varsity teams and 29 women's varsity teams competed.

The format included five traditional games and 16 Baker games to determine the eight bracket finalists in each division. Bracket matches were contested in a best-of-five Baker format.

Lindenwood, the No. 3 seed in the men's field, bested top-seeded Lawrence Tech in title match to claim the win, 3-2. The Lions topped No. 2 Vincennes in the semifinals, 3-1, while Lawrence Tech edged No. 5 Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah, 3-2, to earn its spot in the finals.

Vincennes' Tyler Perry put together another strong showing as he earned the top spot in the individual standings, finishing with a five-game score of 1,104. Perry finished second the previous weekend at the Midwest Collegiate Championships, the first Tier 1 event of the 2018-2019 season.

Muskingum's Joshua Hoffer was second at Beaver-Vu Bowl, posting a 1,081 total. Concordia's Alex Ouellette (1,055), Notre Dame-Ohio's Dean Vargo (1,033) and Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah's Benjamin Martinez (1,029) also finished in the top five.

The Wright State women qualified seventh for the bracket and rolled through No. 2 Lindenwood (3-1) and No. 6 Lawrence Tech (3-0) before besting No. 5 Campbellsville in the title tilt, 3-2. Campbellsville won the deciding game against qualifying leader Pikeville, 3-2, to advance to the championship match.

Pikeville had three of the top five individual performances in the women's field, highlighted by Brittney Turcotte's 1,107 block at Poelking Lanes South. Turcotte was joined in the top five by Jessica Wolfe (1,051) and Lauren Piotrowski (1,008), who finished second and fifth, respectively.

The final two spots in the top five went to Lindenwood's Taylor Lee, who finished in third place with 1,027, and Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah's Katelyn Jones, who was fourth with 1,014.

In other USBC Collegiate action over the weekend:

- At Andy B's Team Challenge in Springfield, Missouri, the Ottawa women recorded the win, while the Baker men secured the victory over Missouri Western State by 14 pins.

- At Andy B's Baker Challenge in Springfield, Missouri, the Ottawa men and women swept the top spots.

- At the Blue Hen Open in Wilmington, Delaware, the Penn State-University Park men led the way by more than 100 pins over the field.

- At the Great Lakes Bowling Conference II in Milwaukee, the Viterbo women claimed their first conference win of the season, while the Wisconsin-Whitewater men have won both GLBC events this season.

- At the Bud Whitman Memorial in Reading, Pennsylvania, the Adelphi women led the way in total pinfall.

- At the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference III and IV in Dallas, the Wichita State men and women cruised to the top spots for the sweep.

- At the Five Seasons Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Grand View women and Mount Mercy men were victorious in the bracket finals.

- At the Sandhills Collegiate Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Hastings men and women went undefeated in bracket play to collect wins.
