The Marian-Wisconsin men put together a powerhouse performance to capture the top spot at last weekend's Great Lakes Bowling Conference No. 2, while the Davenport women took advantage of a strong start to collect their first conference win of the season.

Competition in the men's division was held in Rockford, Illinois, and the women's field competed in Loves Park, Illinois. The tournament featured 20 men's varsity teams and seven women's varsity squads.

All teams bowled six traditional games and 16 Baker games, with total pinfall determining the champion in each division.

In the men's division, Marian-Wisconsin rolled games of 1,127 or higher in each of its first five games and averaged 226 during the traditional block to build a 283-pin lead over the field. The Sabres continued strong in Baker competition, expanding their lead to more than 430 pins to collect the win with a 10,157 total.

Wisconsin-Whitewater finished second with 9,725, and Davenport was third with 9,667.

Gavin Suprenand of Marian-Wisconsin started the traditional set with games of 280, 267 and 279 for an 826 series and concluded his six-game block with 225, 258 and 234 for a 1,543 total, a 257.16 average, to earn top individual honors in the men's division.

Wisconsin-Whitewater's Frank Terpo (1,438) and Drake Bazzy (1,412) finished second and third, respectively. Marian-Wisconsin's Rylee Schwartz was fourth with 1,403, and Davenport's Nicholas Luther and Marian-Wisconsin's Ryan Dreikosen tied for fifth with 1,382.

On the women's side, Davenport was able to build a 194-pin lead during its traditional block. The Panthers were able to maintain the top spot through Baker competition, recording the win with an 8,195 total.

Marian-Wisconsin made a run during Baker competition to move into second place with 8,134, and Viterbo finished in third with 7,990.

Davenport's Omani Morales kicked off her traditional block with a 264 game to roll to the top spot in the women's individual standings with a 1,272 total, a 212 average.

Morales was joined in the top five by Viterbo's Sabrina Becker (1,142), Rock Valley's Olivia Watton (1,135) and Davenport's Merisa Batkins (1,127) and Kasey Eaton (1,104).

In other collegiate action:

- At the Colonial Lanes Classic in Harahan, Louisiana, the North Carolina A&T women posted a 4-1 victory in the title match against Louisiana Tech.

- At the Bearcat Hammer Open in Fairview Heights, Illinois, the Nebraska women won the deciding game of the bracket against McKendree, 216-180, to record the victory, 4-3.

- At the Mercyhurst Invite in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Duquesne women rolled to the top of the standings in total pinfall.

- At the Hammer Lions Classic in St. Charles, Missouri, the McKendree men defeated Newman in the bracket finals, 3-2. In the women's title match, Newman and Lindenwood were tied 2.5-2.5 after five games, resulting in a roll-off to determine the champion. Newman won the roll-off, 48-40.

- At the MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial in Louisville, Kentucky, the St. Francis-Illinois women and Tennessee Southern men recorded victories.

- At the Ohio Bowling Conference No. 2 in Columbus, Ohio, the Muskingum men and Notre Dame-Ohio women claimed the top spots.

- At the MSC Thomas N. Burris Memorial in Louisville, Kentucky, Webber International swept the top spots in the women's and men's divisions.
