USBC enhances equipment regulation
USBC recently issued new specifications for ball marking designed to protect bowlers and pro shop operators from errors that can lead to incorrect drilling. Effective January 31, 2012, USBC is requiring ball manufacturers to accurately mark the key axes on the ball that are used during the ball layout process by pro shop operators in order to receive USBC approval.

USBC announces new verification requirements for pin manufacturers
The United States Bowling Congress has approved a new specification for bowling pin permit renewals. The change is designed to ensure that pins manufactured annually are comparable to the material of the originally approved pin.

RWB Open results affirm equity of oil patterns
For the past several months, the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certifications team has been testing the new USBC Red, White and Blue patterns, newly created "house" oil patterns designed to present bowlers with conditions of varying difficulty as they progress from beginning bowlers to USBC Sport Bowling members.

USBC developing Red, White and Blue conditions
This past June, The United States Bowling Congress introduced plans to develop a new series of lane conditions for certified competition. The group of patterns is designed to provide bowlers a better description for the difficulty of traditional "house" conditions.

USBC, BPAA test Red, White and Blue patterns
For the past several months, the USBC and Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) have worked closely with bowling centers to test the new USBC Red, White and Blue oil patterns. USBC and BPAA data indicate all three patterns have passed both difficulty and fairness standards.
