A bunch of 25 intrepid souls burned the midnight oil on the 24:00 Thursday night squad but away from the norm there were no

1400s. However, squad leader Adam Michaels from England rolled a creditable 265 and had a 1380 series.

The two earlier squads, 16:00 and 20:00, had plenty of action with eight more joining the 1400 club. The best score came from Finland's Krista Pollanen with 1477 on the latter squad, which brought her up to seventh place in the overall standings. Earlier, Pergamon club stars Robert Andersson and Martin Larsen of Sweden posted 1444 and 1440 respectively to slot into 11th and 12th spots on the leader board.

Just behind Pollanen came Kirsten Penny of  England (1432); P.J. Haggerty, United States (1423); Wendy Chai, Malaysia (1420); 2009 world Cup champion Caroline Lagrange of Canada (1412) and Paul Hutchinson, Denmark (1408). Hutchinson also rolled a 290 game and two Swedes, Larsen and Tobias Karlsson had 286s.

Maybe holding the shortest odds of taking the 2010 BEC title, Norm Duke, star PBA bowler from the United States, opened his account on the 20:00 squad but his 1386 placed him in fourth place on the squad and 33rd in the standings. He will be back.

With the entry count standing at 357 at the close of the midnight session, there are more than 100 to roll their first series. currently the cut for the elite top 16 stands at 1432 and the eagerly sought after 52nd place to beat, 1359.
