Pluhowsky wins WBA Kansas City Open

ShannonPInsideOlathe, Kan. - Shannon Pluhowsky of Kettering, Ohio, is on a hot streak that includes wins at The Proprietors Cup, Gold medals at the PABCON Championships and now the Women's Bowling Alliance at Olathe Lanes East. Pluhowsky defeated Olivia Sandham, Wichita, Kan., 247-239 for title.

After three qualifying squads, Bryanna Caldwell, Red Rock, Ariz., led all bowlers with 1,409 for six games (234.83 avg.) with Sandham the last to qualify in 16th place with 1,225 (204.16 avg.). Throughout the eight games of match play, Caldwell dominated the field by 244 pins until she was knocked out in the third round of single elimination.

The championship match was pressure-packed as Sandham was in control until the seventh frame when she left a six-count split that she failed to convert. That was the opportunity Pluhowsky needed, as she threw the last six strikes to lock out Sandham and hoist the trophy and $2,000 prize. Sandham received $1,250 for her second place finish.

The WBA would like to thank Mike Adamski and his www.Kansas CityTournaments.com staff for running a great tournament and their sponsorship along with Brunswick, Interstate Batteries, In The Zone Pro Shop, Jeff Alton with Platinum Realty and Olathe Lanes East.
