Collegiate Ticker - Sept. 26, 2018

The Lourdes women and Lincoln Memorial men looked in mid-season form after capturing wins last weekend at the Railsplitter Baker Kick-Off in Harrogate, Tennessee.

The Railsplitter Baker Kick-Off was contested at Hillcrest Lanes and featured six women's varsity teams and seven men's varsity teams competing in the Baker format. All teams rolled 36 Baker games to determine the three teams in each division advancing to the stepladder finals, which was contested in a best-of-three format.

The Lourdes women's program, making its debut in the 2018-2019 season, earned the No. 3 seed for the stepladder finals and bounced back from a 0-1 deficit against Union to advance to the finals, 2-1.

The Gray Wolves dropped the opening game in the title match to top-seeded University of the Cumberlands, 200-147, but the first-year program rebounded with wins of 170-149 and 189-171 to record its first victory.

On the men's side, Lincoln Memorial cruised to the top spot in qualifying, leading the field by 450 pins.

The Railsplitters continued their dominance in the championship match, sweeping Tennessee Wesleyan, 2-0, to claim the program's first title.

In the semifinal, Tennessee Wesleyan, the No. 3 seed, defeated University of the Cumberlands, 2-0.
