The Marian-Wisconsin men and Rock Valley women put everything together during bracket play last weekend at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite to win their respective divisions.

The event featured 22 men's varsity programs competing in Rockford, Illinois, and nine women's varsity teams in Loves Park, Illinois. Qualifying consisted of six traditional games and 16 Baker games, with the top eight men's teams and top four women's teams advancing to bracket play. Bracket matches were contested in a best-of-three Baker format to determine the champion in each division.

In the men's division, Marian-Wisconsin qualified fifth overall with an 8,922 total but found its stride in match play. The Sabres recorded wins over No. 4 Rock Valley and No. 8 Wisconsin-Milwaukee, before defeating No. 6 Purdue in the title match.

In qualifying, Saint Xavier led the field by more than 370 pins to earn the top seed, finishing with a 9,628 total. Calumet qualified second with 9,254, and Judson was third with 9,144. Wisconsin-Milwaukee earned the eighth spot in the bracket with 8,696.

Saint Xavier placed three student-athletes in the top five of the men's individual standings, highlighted by Alex Acosta. Acosta rolled the program's first 300 game during Game 5 and finished his six-game block with 257 to claim the top spot with a 1,447 total, a 241.16 average.

Saint Xavier's Trevor Amir finished second with 1,425 and was followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater's Nate Purches (1,378), Judson's Jacob Alberts (1,324) and Saint Xavier's Matt Devorsky (1,323).

On the women's side, Rock Valley snuck into the bracket in fourth place, edging Iowa Central CC for the final spot by 16 pins with a 7,684 total. The Golden Eagles turned things around in the bracket, however, defeating top seed Saint Xavier to advance to the title match and besting No. 2 Calumet to claim the win.

Saint Xavier earned the top seed after finishing qualifying with an 8,263 total. Calumet finished with 8,231 and Judson was third with 8,152.

Judson's Stephanie Zagar earned top honors in the women's individual standings, finishing with a 1,178 total, a 196.33 average.

Zagar was joined on the all-tournament team by Rock Valley's Jocelynn Eggert (1,156), Calumet's Alyssa Olson (1,146), Saint Xavier's Olivia Daujatas (1,144) and Calumet's Brooklinn Chavez (1,142).

In other collegiate action:

- At the Midland Warrior Open in Omaha, Nebraska, the Grand View women and Iowa Western CC men made their way through multiple matches to collect wins in their respective divisions.

- At the Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Indiana, the Lincoln Memorial men and Rio Grande women were the top teams across 40 Baker games.

- At the MSC Bowling Green Baker Shootout in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the Tennessee Southern women rolled to the top spot in the Baker competition.
