LAS VEGAS -- Despite a prolonged gaming slump, the Las Vegas economy has seen some bright spots in 2009.
Wednesday, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority released its non-gaming revenue tally for the USBC Open Championships.
The tournament, which drew the nation's top bowlers to Cashman Center from February through July, generated more than $120 million for the Las Vegas economy, according to the LVCVA.
With the year winding down, there are fewer sporting events on the calendar, but the agency hopes NASCAR Champions Week, held for the first time in Las Vegas this December, will be the next major draw.
