Main field set for PWBA Bowlers Journal Rockford Open after PTQ

PTQ Results

ROCKFORD, Ill.
– The field for qualifying at the 2026 Professional Women’s Bowling Association Bowlers Journal Rockford Open is set after the pre-tournament qualifier Wednesday evening.

Wednesday started with 51 bowlers at The Cherry Bowl with the top 10 advancing to the main field. The PTQ field was led by Shannon Payton of Fenton, Missouri, with a six-game total of 1,360, good for over a 226 average on the day.

Joining Payton in the main field are the following: Summer Jasmin of Beckley, West Virginia (1.288); Japan’s Suzuna Miyagi (1,257); Morgan Kramer of Webb, Alabama (1,235); South Korea’s Seo Yeon Ryu (1,228); Gianna Brandolino of Channahon, Illinois (1,207); Brooke Roberts of Port Orange, Florida (1,204); Finland’s Peppi Konsteri (1,204); Japan’s Manon Ishida (1,202); and Megan Allensworth of Plainfield, Illinois (1,196).

The PTQ field bowled on a 39-foot oil condition that proved tricky for most competitors, but for Payton, it proved to be just what she needed to boost the confidence heading into the first event of the season.

“Knowing that I bowled well on a tough pattern made me feel comfortable,” Payton said. “I worked hard on my ball roll during the offseason since I tend to not roll it the way I should. Working hard on my release got me pretty confident in my game right now too.”

Now in the main field, Payton will look to keep the mindset that got her in.

“I just need to stay in the moment and not overthink everything.”

All competitors in the main field will return Thursday for the official practice session at 1 p.m. Eastern and select players will remain for two pro-am events later at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Qualifying begins Friday with two six-game blocks at 11 a.m. Eastern and 6 p.m. Eastern.

The top third of the field will advance to a third six-game qualifying block Saturday at 10 a.m. Eastern. Only 12 will continue to the final qualifying block later at 3 p.m. Eastern, where a final cut happens to the top five for the stepladder finals at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Qualifying and the stepladder finals will be streamed live on BowlTV.
