MONROE, Mich. – Amateur James Koss of Brighton, Mich., defeated Mason Brantley of Detroit by 32 pins to win the Professional Bowlers Association Central Region’s La-Z-Boy/Monroe Sport Center Open presented by DV8 at Monroe Sport Center Sunday.

Koss finished the non-champions event with a 6-6 match play record and a total of 4,828 pins for 20 games, including match play bonus pins. Koss earned $1,400 for his victory.

The tournament field consisted of PBA members who do not hold a PBA title or non members that have never won a PBA event. Because Koss is an amateur, he will not be credited with a PBA Regional title.

The next PBA Central Region event will be at Eastown Recreation Center in Jasper, Ind., Feb. 24-26.
