USBC data management systems and the future of WinLABs
For any association officials that weren’t able to attend the 2012 USBC Convention, USBC is working on the development of a new membership system. This system is based on Microsoft Dynamics CRM, a customer relationship management software package developed by Microsoft. The first stages of this development and rollout deal with internal systems for communicating with vendors and managing data.

The next stage involves replacing both WinLABs and the Youth Processing System with a program we have been referring to internally as WebLABs. The first preview of WebLABs was displayed at Convention this year and feedback was very positive. We anticipate deploying WebLABs to associations beginning in the latter part of the second half of the 2012-13 season.

Prior to a full rollout, USBC’s IT Task Force and a small number of associations will use it for a few months to fully test. We have approximately 50 associations requesting to be beta testers. A full rollout is planned to run throughout the 2013-14 season before WinLABs is finally retired for membership processing.

One feature that was announced at Convention is the support for multiple tournament software packages. WebLABs will not contain a tournament module. However, it will support exporting any and all data that is needed to a format supported by the current WinLABs tournament module, as well as CDE and Treasure Software’s tournament packages. Once all associations have been migrated to WebLABs, the latest version of WinLABs will remain available for download on BOWL.com for anyone who prefers that system for their tournaments.

Final averages in WinLABs
Be sure to enter all final averages as the leagues are being completed. With the introduction of composite averages being shown on BOWL.com, all averages, regardless of the amount of games bowled, must be entered into WinLABs.

Board of Directors and Youth Committee application deadline nearing

The deadline to submit applications for positions on the USBC Board of Directors and Youth Committee is Sept. 1, 2012.

For the 2013 election, the Nominating Committee will slate up to two candidates for each open position on the board. There will be four positions open for election in 2012; candidates may also run from the floor. The USBC Youth Committee assists in promoting and governing youth components of the organization.

Applications for download are at the bottom of the home page of BOWL.com or you can click here for the forms. Applications can also be submitted online.

Forums now on Facebook
The discussion on BOWL.com is moving. Due in part to the success of our USBC Association Leaders group, we are migrating more online discussion to Facebook. BOWL.com will continue to have the Sub Board forums for the USBC Open Championships and the USBC Women’s Championships; however, discussion sections will now be on Facebook. We encourage you to like our main page on Facebook and join our groups to continue in the discussions.

IBC Youth membership options

Some exciting new membership products, designed to help grow your youth memberships, will be introduced this season by the IBC Youth Development team.

In addition to the products already available, new this season is the introduction of the Roll ‘N Grow PLUS membership. It includes all of the benefits of our popular Roll ‘N Grow membership plus includes a USBC Youth Jersey, all for $17.

Also new this year is the USBC Scholastic membership. The benefits of this membership are identical to last year’s USBC High School membership. The name has been changed to allow USBC to provide a similar level of membership and benefits to participants in Middle School Scholastic competition.

These products, in addition to the membership choices already offered (Standard Youth, Youth Basic and Roll ‘N Grow) comprise our membership options for 2012-13. Add in our USA Bowling program, and there is an option available for every youth bowler!
