USBC board elects new president
The USBC Board of Directors elected three-time Team USA member Andrew Cain of Phoenix as president of USBC for the remainder of the current term, which ends July 31, 2012. Cain, 30, takes over for Jim Sturm, who stepped down earlier this month.

Cain, who started bowling at age 6 and had his first 300 game at age 12, was a member of Team USA in 2002, 2003 and 2005 and was a member of Junior Team USA in 2001. He has won nearly a dozen medals in international competition, and most recently was a member of the Team All-Events champions at the 2011 USBC Open Championships. Cain, who owns a small wholesale business, graduated from Arizona State with a degree in justice studies.

The board also announced that John Losito of Lincoln, Neb., has been named to the board as the second Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America representative. Losito, the proprietor at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, fills the spot vacated by Sturm’s departure.

New regional manager for the West
David Prange has joined the Association Development team as regional manager of the West. Prange most recently was a member of the Tournament Services department at the USBC Open Championships venues. He has served on the Southern Nevada USBC board for eight years and the Nevada State USBC board for four years. Prange also brings experience as a past proprietor and a pro shop operator.

2012 USBC Convention Annual Meeting Schedule
The USBC Annual Meeting schedule has now been posted on BOWL.com. New this year, we will begin the annual meeting Thursday afternoon to help assure that the meeting will be completed by Friday. When viewing documents on the Convention page, there is a revised date at the bottom to confirm that it is the most recent update of the document.

Non-Merged Youth delegates
Non-Merged Youth associations need to send their delegates in to USBC Headquarters and have them entered manually. WinLABs will not recognize an adult as a youth member and will not allow them to be entered into the system. Delegates for non-merged associations can send an email to convention@bowl.com with their delegates.

New hotel
We have been informed that the host hotel, The Sheraton Arlington, is out of rooms at the USBC Convention pricing. The Arlington Hilton, located just minutes from the convention center, has put together a great package for us as a back-up hotel. BowlTV to broadcast two live special events
Bowling fans will be able to watch two special live broadcasts next month produced by the USBC on BowlTV – the USBC Open Championships Kickoff Special and the USBC Collegiate Sectionals Assignments Show.

The first live broadcast, the USBC Open Championships Kickoff Special, will take place Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. Eastern from the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge, La. The USBC Collegiate Sectionals Assignment Show will be broadcast Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. Eastern.

BowlTV is the official video channel of USBC. Bowling fans can subscribe to the channel for free by going to YouTube.com/BowlTV and clicking subscribe.

February is Bowl for the Cure® month

Last, donations of all sizes are accepted. No donation is too small to make a difference in the lives of the 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team
The deadline to nominate a standout high school bowler for the Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team is rapidly approaching. Selection to the Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team is based on bowling accomplishments, academic achievement, letters of recommendation, extracurricular and community involvement, submitted essays and resumes.

Each year, five male and five female USBC High School members are selected for the Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team and each receives a $1,000 scholarship. The awards will be presented at the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships in Indianapolis, July 14-20.
