Bertrand rolls 300s, leads all-events at 2026 USBC Open Championships

RENO, Nev. – Ryan Bertrand of Syracuse, New York, became the first competitor to connect for a 700 series in each event at the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships on Saturday to secure the lead in Regular All-Events with a 2,197 total.
The 34-year-old right-hander had sets of 753 in doubles, 723 in singles and 721 in team at the National Bowling Stadium to move past the 2,167 posted by Robert Oakleaf Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky, on April 5. Oakleaf still leads Regular Singles with 816.
His singles set also included the 10th perfect game of the 2026 USBC Open Championships. After starting with 232, Bertrand went 12 for 12 in Game 2. He closed with 191.
In doubles, Bertrand paired with Gregory Spinelli of Auburn, New York, to take over fourth place in the Regular Division with 1,435. Spinelli had 682. Two-time Eagle winners Dean Distin of Phoenix, New York, and Michael Tryniski of Fulton, New York, took the lead and broke the tournament's doubles record Friday with 1,567.

In addition to posting his highest three-game block across eight appearances at the Open Championships, Bertrand also connected for his best all-events tally at the tournament by 103 pins. He put together 2,094 during the 2022 event in Las Vegas.
The Open Championships is celebrating its 122nd edition in 2026 and making its 15th trip to Reno, Nevada. The 2026 event is scheduled to feature more than 55,000 bowlers and 11,000 five-player teams competing across 128 consecutive days at the National Bowling Stadium.
