Bockstie posts 2,277 to take lead in all-events at 2026 Open Championships
June 13, 2026
RENO, Nev. – Junior Team USA’s Jacob Bockstie of Nottingham, Maryland, averaged 253 across his nine games Thursday and Friday at the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships to take over the lead in Regular All-Events with a 2,277 total.
The 19-year-old two-hander recorded sets of 784 in doubles, 757 in singles and 736 in team to post the fifth-highest all-events total in tournament history and surpass the 2,256 rolled by Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour champion Josie Barnes of Hermitage, Tennessee, on April 26-27.
Bockstie’s doubles set also included a 300 in Game 3, and he became the first competitor since 2018 to secure 90 clean frames across his nine games. He only rolled one game under 237 (212 in Game 1 of team).
Stepping up in his final frame of singles at the National Bowling Stadium, Bockstie had different routes to take the lead. A spare and strike to close his set would get him to 2,257, while a strike on the first delivery followed by good count also would get the job done.
Attacking the lanes from the left side, Bockstie had left a 7 pin and 6 pin in the sixth and eighth frames, respectively, on Lane 67 at the NBS prior to his final frame. A small adjustment to the right allowed him to strike out in the 10th frame.

Bockstie also made an immediate impact on the collegiate bowling scene during the 2025-2026 season at Mount Mercy University.
He was named the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Rookie of the Year and also earned first-team All-American status for NCBCA and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Bockstie also helped the Mustangs to a runner-up finish at the 2026 Intercollegiate Team Championships.
