Broadway Sports Center to Host Mark Roth Fundraiser

Broadway Sports Center in Cheektowaga, N.Y., will host a fundraiser for PBA Tour legend, Mark Roth, on November 2 from 12-5 p.m. Roth, a 34-time PBA Tour titlist who still holds the record for most titles won in a single season (eight in 1978, followed by seven more in 1979), suffered a massive stroke in 2009 that paralyzed the left side of his body. His rehabilitation is ongoing.

"It's going toward six years and things haven't gotten any easier," Roth's wife, Denise, recently told Bowlers Journal. "He has many needs and this will help more than anyone will ever know. We also would like to get him some aggressive rehab if he's strong enough going forward."

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward helping Roth in his continuing rehabilitation efforts. Tickets are priced at $20 and include a door prize, food, music by DJ Sound, an hourly 50/50 raffle, a Chinese auction, big ticket items and Mark Roth memorabilia. The event also will feature a Plastic Ball Tournament with an entry fee of $30. $10 of each entry will go toward the prize fund, while the rest will go toward Roth's rehabilitation costs. The price of the fundraiser ticket is included in the $30 entry fee for the tournament.

Those who send in donations before October 22 will be entered into an early bird drawing for the On the Ball bowling ball and two Brunswick Bowling  U.S. Open bowling pins signed by Roth. The items come with a certificate of authenticity signed by such legends as Johnny Petraglia and others. Checks should be made out to Mark Roth and mailed to the attention of Ed Seger at Broadway Sports Center, 3500 Broadway, Cheektowaga, NY 14227. Questions about the event should be directed to Ed Seger at (716) 684-6968.
