Cherie Tan leads qualifying at 2019 PWBA Greater Cleveland Open

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - Singapore's Cherie Tan continued her dominance Friday at the 2019 Nationwide Professional Women's Bowling Association Greater Cleveland Open and will lead the top 32 bowlers into the next round.
The 30-year-old left-hander led both eight-game rounds at Yorktown Lanes on Friday, posting a 16-game total of 3,886, a 242.8 average.
She's looking to claim her second PWBA Tour title after winning the 2016 PWBA Storm Sacramento Open.
Two-time PWBA Tour champion Josie Barnes of Nashville, Tennessee, moved into second place with 3,715, and Lindsay Boomershine of Perry, Utah, was third with 3,685. Canada's Caroline Lagrange, who rolled the first perfect game of the 2019 season Friday during qualifying, was fourth with 3,685, and Singapore's Bernice Lim was fifth with 3,654.
The top 32 players from the 98-player field advanced to the next round, which starts Saturday at 9 a.m. Eastern. The final player to advance to the Round of 32 was Natalie Cortese of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, who finished qualifying with a 3,473 total, a 217 average.
This week's 47-foot oil pattern yielded four 300 games Friday. Lagrange was joined in the feat by Kristin Nieter of Homewood, Illinois, Kara Mangiola of Rochester, New York, and Singapore's New Hui Fen.
The top 32 players will bowl eight more games Saturday to determine who advances to the Round of 12, which starts at 2 p.m. Eastern. After six additional games, the top four players based on total pinfall will advance to the stepladder finals.
The stepladder finals will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. BowlTV.com will livestream all the action on Saturday, including the stepladder finals.
